How to use it
- Upload the photo you want to clean.
- We remove the EXIF and XMP blocks (including GPS) from the file. The colour profile is kept so colours stay correct.
- Download the clean file and share it safely.
What gets removed?
- GPS latitude, longitude and altitude
- Camera make, model, serial number and lens
- Date and time the photo was taken
- Author, copyright, software and editing history
- XMP data such as title, keywords and description
The image pixels and ICC colour profile are kept, so there is no quality loss.
Why remove metadata before sharing?
Photos taken on a phone often contain the exact GPS position where they were shot. If you post a picture taken at home, anyone who downloads the original file can read that location. Removing EXIF data also hides the device you use and when the photo was taken.
Only want to hide the location and keep the camera details? Use the GPS location remover instead.
Frequently asked questions
Does removing EXIF reduce quality?
No. Only the metadata blocks are deleted; the compressed image data is not touched.
Do WhatsApp and Instagram remove EXIF?
They usually strip most metadata from images they compress, but files sent as documents, emails, cloud links and website uploads often keep everything.
Which formats can I clean?
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC and PSD. TIFF and GIF are cleaned by re-saving the image.
Can removed metadata be recovered?
No. Once you download the cleaned file, the removed information is not inside it any more. Keep your original if you might need it later.
