What you can do with photo metadata
Every photo carries hidden information. Phones and cameras record the device, settings, date and often the exact GPS position; editing apps add software tags; websites need a title, description, keywords and copyright for image SEO and ownership.
With Exif Data Tool you can check that information, edit it, remove it before sharing, or prepare images for your website with an SEO file name, alt text, caption and responsive srcset code.
Frequently asked questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is hidden information saved inside photos by cameras, phones and editing apps – camera model, date and time, exposure settings and often the GPS location. XMP adds the title, description, keywords and copyright.
Is this EXIF tool free?
Yes. You can view, edit or clean 10 images a day for free without creating an account. Premium removes the limit and the ads.
Will editing metadata reduce image quality?
No. When you keep the same format, only the metadata part of the file is rewritten – the image itself is copied byte for byte. PSD layers are kept too.
Which formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF and PSD are edited natively. TIFF and GIF are also supported.
How do I remove location from a photo?
Use the Remove GPS Location tool to delete only the coordinates, or Remove EXIF Data to delete all metadata in one click.
Are my images private?
Files are stored in a private temporary folder linked to your session and deleted automatically after a few hours. They are never published.
